Choctaw County Warrant Records Choctaw County Warrant Records

Before you call the county, call the town. A Choctaw County municipal court warrant starts in a city ordinance, traffic, or limited criminal case, and the town keeps its own file. Only one municipality here lists a current judge. The rest send their citations somewhere else, and only their clerks can tell you where. Pull out the citation or notice first. The court name printed on it tells you which office to dial. Ask that town's clerk who holds the case, whether a process was entered against it, and what the court accepts to resolve the matter.

Choctaw County Municipal Court Warrants

Mississippi municipal courts work a narrow beat inside a single town's limits. Ordinance violations, some traffic matters, and a thin slice of criminal cases land on their dockets. Miss a court date or ignore a direction from the judge, and the municipal judge can issue a bench warrant or capias, the same tool a county court uses. The split is in who holds the paper. A municipal warrant stays in the town's own court file with the town clerk or court clerk. It does not slide into the Justice Court system on its own, and Choctaw County publishes nothing showing any town feeds its cases to the sheriff's records. Two questions means two offices, and a Choctaw County warrant search has to ask each one separately.

Dated Contacts in Choctaw County Warrant Research

Check how old a contact list is before you trust the name on it. Town-level directories in Choctaw County come from documents with wildly different dates. The Secretary of State's municipal clerks contact PDF shows March 2013 on its face. It still works for finding a town phone and mailing address, but the person named may not hold the job now. The county and judiciary directories carry 2026 dates and list the current sheriff, clerks, judges, and constables. Treat a 2013 name as a lead only. Confirm it on the first call before you ask anyone about a warrant.

Choctaw County Cities With Municipal Courts

Four incorporated places sit in or connect to Choctaw County. Their court arrangements differ. The table draws on the 2026 judiciary directory plus the state's town contacts, and the gaps in it are real.

A missing judge listing describes the directory, not the town. A Choctaw County municipality without one can still write citations.

Choctaw County's Only Municipal Warrant Court

Ackerman Municipal Court is the lone Choctaw municipal court in the current state judiciary directory. It lists Judge Kasey Burney Young at P.O. Box 397, Sherman, MS 38869, phone 662-840-9185, fax 662-842-2517. The mailing address falls outside the county, which surprises people; it marks where the judge gets mail, not where court is held, so call before driving anywhere. For what the town regulates, use its official government page, which lays out the town's own government and ordinance navigation.

Checking a Municipal Court Warrant

No town here runs an online lookup, so every route to a Choctaw County warrant check runs through a person. Work the calls in order.

  1. Read the issuing court off the citation, summons, or town notice.
  2. Call that town's clerk and ask who keeps the record and whether a process was entered.
  3. For an Ackerman matter, use the municipal route at 662-840-9185 or the clerk line at 662-285-6251.
  4. Ask whether the citation was filed with the town or sent to Choctaw County Justice Court at 662-285-3599.
  5. Where the town identifies a county case, and only then, use the county citation portal.
  6. For service or custody questions on a county process, call the Sheriff's Office at 662-285-6129.

Note: ask the Choctaw County town whether it takes a written records request and what identification that request needs.

Choctaw Municipal Warrants Miss the Portal

Here is the trap that catches the most people. Someone searches the county citation portal, sees nothing, and assumes the town matter vanished. It did not. The portal is a Justice Court interface built around a citation number, and a municipal case that never entered Justice Court could never appear there. The reverse mistake happens too. Paying a county citation leaves a town court file untouched, and paying a town balance will not recall a county process. Ask each court about its own record. One screen never speaks for the other in Choctaw County.

Inside a Municipal Court Warrant

A town warrant carries about the same fields as a county one. It is keyed to a citation or ordinance charge rather than a circuit cause number.

Process labelBench warrant, capias, capias pro fine, or a failure to appear entry
Issuing courtThe municipal court, with the judge's name where the record shows it
Related caseThe town citation or ordinance charge, such as 123456A
TriggerMissed appearance, missed payment, contempt, or another court directed reason
Financial blockFine, costs, payment status, and any bond or release condition
Serving officerMunicipal police, a marshal, a constable, or the sheriff, depending on the arrangement
VisibilitySealed, juvenile, or expunged material may not be available for inspection

No Choctaw town publishes warrant types, bond amounts, court hours, or caseload figures. Every one of those fields comes from the clerk.

Town Clerks and Choctaw Warrant Routing

A police department and a court clerk answer different questions, and mixing them up wastes the most time. Police handle the town's law enforcement matters. The clerk or court clerk holds the municipal record, schedules the case, and knows what the judge requires. Neither office can recall another court's process.

Recalling a court warrant belongs to the judge who issued it. An Ackerman police officer cannot do it for Choctaw County.

How to Resolve a Municipal Court Warrant

The remedies are familiar, but every detail is local and unpublished. Ask the town court whether payment closes the matter, whether the judge will set a new date, whether a motion to recall is available, and whether a voluntary appearance is accepted. Ask what identification and payment instruments the office takes, and whether a hearing comes before anything changes.

Not located in official Choctaw sources: any town recall form, filing fee, bond amount, walk in docket, payment plan, or municipal amnesty event. Do not substitute another county's form or figure.

Before leaving the Choctaw County court, ask which record proves the warrant is cleared and when it updates. Keep the paperwork.

Before Paying a Choctaw Municipal Warrant Balance

A Choctaw County resident may have a town ticket in hand and an online payment screen open. One call to the clerk first tells you whether that payment reaches the right municipal warrant file.

  1. Call the town clerk and confirm which court accepted the citation.
  2. If the town keeps it, ask for that court's own payment method rather than using a county screen.
  3. Ask whether a process was already entered and whether payment recalls it.
  4. Ask whether a court date remains and whether appearance is still required.
  5. Keep the receipt and call back to confirm the record was updated.
